One image for every degree of the zodiac, received in a single afternoon in 1925.
In San Diego in 1925, the astrologer Marc Edmund Jones and the clairvoyant Elsie Wheeler produced 360 images, one for each degree of the tropical zodiac, in one sitting. The results read like fragments of dream: a woman awaiting a sailboat, a large white cross upon a hill, three old masters hanging in an art gallery. They are not explanations. They are pictures you are meant to sit in front of.
In a chart the Sabian symbols work as a second language running under the placements. Your sun is not only in a sign and a house, it is on one degree, and that degree has an image. The app rounds each body's degree up, as Jones set the rule, and gives you the images for the sun, moon and rising.
The degrees, sign by sign
Thirty images to a sign, one for every degree. Yours is the one your body sits on.
Aries
Aries is cardinal fire: the first spark of the zodiac, the will to begin. Its essence is courage, directness, and the vitality of a self that acts before it deliberates. Wherever Aries touches a chart, life asks for initiative, and teaches, over time, the difference between the fight worth having and the fight merely available.
Taurus
Taurus is fixed earth: the zodiac's power of endurance and embodiment. Its essence is patience, sensuality, and the wisdom of what grows slowly: value that must be built, not seized. Wherever Taurus touches a chart, life asks for rootedness and rewards devotion, while teaching the fine art of releasing what has finished serving.
Gemini
Gemini is mutable air: the zodiac's principle of exchange. Its essence is curiosity, language, and the doubled perspective that can always see another side. Wherever Gemini touches a chart, life moves through questions, connections, and the pleasure of learning, and asks that breadth eventually make friends with depth.
Cancer
Cancer is cardinal water: the zodiac's principle of care. Its essence is belonging: home, memory, the protective instinct that builds shelter for what is tender. Wherever Cancer touches a chart, life moves in tides: feeling, retreating, nourishing, returning. Its lesson is that true protection makes things strong enough to leave the shell.
Leo
Leo is fixed fire: the zodiac's principle of radiance. Its essence is the creative heart: the need to express, to celebrate, to warm others by shining fully. Wherever Leo touches a chart, life asks for wholehearted self-expression and generous pride. Its lesson is that light given freely returns; light demanded merely dazzles.
Virgo
Virgo is mutable earth: the zodiac's principle of refinement. Its essence is craft: the discerning eye that sees how things could be better, and the humility to do the work itself. Wherever Virgo touches a chart, life improves through attention and service. Its lesson is that perfection is a direction, never an address.
Libra
Libra is cardinal air: the zodiac's principle of relation. Its essence is balance, beauty, fairness, and the truth that we become ourselves through one another. Wherever Libra touches a chart, life happens in dialogue and seeks harmony. Its lesson is that real peace includes every voice at the table, your own among them.
Scorpio
Scorpio is fixed water: the zodiac's principle of depth and transformation. Its essence is intensity: the willingness to descend into what is hidden and emerge changed. Wherever Scorpio touches a chart, life refuses the superficial: it asks for truth, full feeling, and periodic rebirth. Its lesson is that surrender can be a form of power.
Sagittarius
Sagittarius is mutable fire: the zodiac's principle of the quest. Its essence is meaning: the arrow aimed at the horizon, the faith that life makes sense and the hunger to find out how. Wherever Sagittarius touches a chart, life expands through travel, study, and honest speech. Its lesson is that wisdom is truth lived, not just found.
Capricorn
Capricorn is cardinal earth: the zodiac's principle of structure and time. Its essence is mastery: the patient climb, the earned authority, the respect for limits that makes real achievement possible. Wherever Capricorn touches a chart, life matures through responsibility. Its lesson is that discipline is love with a long memory.
Aquarius
Aquarius is fixed air: the zodiac's principle of the future and the collective. Its essence is awakening: ideas held with conviction, the outsider's clear sight, loyalty to humanity's possibilities over its habits. Wherever Aquarius touches a chart, life questions the given order. Its lesson is that revolutions of the mind must eventually include the heart.
Pisces
Pisces is mutable water: the zodiac's principle of dissolution and compassion. Its essence is the boundless: imagination, empathy, the felt unity beneath all separate things. Wherever Pisces touches a chart, edges soften and the invisible becomes audible. Its lesson is to visit the ocean without forgetting the way back to shore.
